Questions & Answers

Final long term goal....

I believe Mastermind Bill walks in to MRI every day as if he were on vacation. This is the final goal. I want to walk in to a company that I am managing and everything is running like a finely tuned watch and i am just checking the time.

More long term goals...

To fine tune an operation to perfection. I see companies like a watch maker sees a watch. Lots of little gears all working together in unison to perform a single task.

What are your long-term goals?
To become a company's General Manger

Ever since working for my grandfather as a child wanted to manage my own business. Nowadays that opportunity does not come easy for everyone. Financial resources are not always available.  I have manged Operations and Program Management simultaneously for the last 10 year for two companies for gentlemen with the financial backing to support that.  Given the opportunity I would like to take this one step further and manage an entire organization.
What are you working on right now?
Avionic Display Head Assembly for US Military Aircraft application. My company provides built-to-specification Military, Industrial and commercial grade LCD products.  Our specialty is Optical Bonding, backlighting, military grade packaging, optical engineering services
What tools do you use?
MS Office, MS Project, Company specific ERP system and a lot of skills I learned from coaching little girls softball.
Describe your greatest accomplishment.
Managing my daughters softball team to a local championship. I managed several sports teams having 3 girls and one boy as children Softball was a major part of our family growing up as two of the oldest girls played during the same season.  I volunteer to mange both teams on several occasions.   My best performance was when the oldest played the Tr-County championship.  She was a pitcher and I would call the pitches from the dugout.  She made the last out on strikes winning the tournament
Who are your main influences?
My grandfather, obviously from above and two former superiors. 1st PMO Sterling. Sterling was a very strong and effective leader of people.  A "handler" of situations.  A political master in the corporate world coming from old southern money and grit.  Never wrote anything down, managed from memory.

2nd Mastermind Bill.  Entrepreneur of several successful business.  Bill is a GT grad, probably the smartest man I've ever met.  Engineer, business man, industry leader, Started; Avionic Displays Corporation, American Panel Corporation and Manufacturing Resources International. I assisted Bill in some manner take all of these start up companies into industry corner stones.

I love the energy behind all three of my mentors. Common to all is an extreme work and business ethics.

Why did you choose your profession?
My grandfather was a General Contractor (Home Builder). I grew up working as helper as early as 10 years old.  I always admired how he orchestrated all the work and the workers to make plans from drawings on paper soon became reality.  He mastered ordering just the correct amount of materials, just in time delivery of material to support manpower personnel and time to perform the tasks.

Later in life as I began my professional career it was apparent, even in early positions,  that management would become my career path.

I started at ADC as Production Test Manager.  Career change to L-3 Communication transitioned quickly to Engineering Project Manager.  As EPM, promoted to Program Manager, moved to APC as Director of Program Management, combined with MRI.  Now transition to Operations Management and program management simultaneously.

I believe I'm following in my grandfathers footsteps.
